Through the Looking Glass: Surrealist Visions of Wonderland
Through the Looking Glass immerses visitors in the surreal and astonishing world of its protagonist through works created by avant-garde artists, inspired by the immortal novel by Lewis Carroll, published in 1865.
The exhibition features a selection of 69 works, including works by Salvador Dalí, Max Ernst, and Marie Laurencin. Among them are 34 prints that illustrate different chapters of the novel or draw inspiration from it, along with 26 prints of the illustrations John Tenniel created to accompany Carroll’s text, which remain present in most contemporary editions. Also included are nine photographs taken by Lewis Carroll.
